Fibre Technology

Tencel® is a cellulose Lenzing fibre which comes from Eucalyptus plants on certified sustainable plantations. Tencel®'s nano-structure provides exceptional wicking, accumulation, expansion and drying ofmoisture.
Merino Wool is a finely crimped and soft wool with staples (fibre lengths) that are commonly 65 – 100 mm (2.5 – 4 inches) long and less than 24 microns in diameter. The core of a merino fibre is hydrophilic (water retaining), and is breathable. The fine micron diameter ensures it feels soft and comfortable next to the skin. Merino has the ability to help keep the foot warm in winter and cool in summer.
COOLMAX® is a polyester yarn from Invista® with channels to efficiently transport moisture away from the skin to the outside of the sock.
  Polyester yarn developed by Primaloft® (world leader in artificial thermal insulation in technical clothing) which combines 30% Primaloft® fibres with 70% recycled post-consumer polyester. The result is a soft, thermal insulated hydrophobic fibre which expels rather than absorbs moisture.
The new "MerinoDry" yarn complements the main benefits of the superfine Merino wool (softness, natural warmth, anti-odor…) with a synthetic fiber that improves the moisture management properties in the sock, thanks to lower humidity absorption and to a faster drying rate.
Very lightweight polyester with hollow core developed by Invista, whose key hydrophobic property retains body heat and expels moisture away from the skin.
Nylon yarn that incorporates a special natural mineral inside that converts the thermo-energy generated by the body during activity in far infrared rays that are returned to the skin. Scientifically proven to boost energy level and strengthen performance during all sport activities.
This polypropylene fibre contains an antibacterial additive in the core. Its main property is that it is extremely fast-drying giving warmth and comfort.
Polartec® Power Dry® was created to give base fabrics greater efficiency, more dependable wicking properties, faster dry times and better overall performance. Not all base fabrics are created equal, and many can only provide temporary wicking chemistry that fades and weakens with every wash. By designing mechanical wicking fabric with our patented bi-component construction we invented a superior base material that pulls moisture from the skin, expands for faster evaporation and lasts the life of the fabric.
Polartec® Power Stretch® was developed to expand our base fabric's durability and range of motion. The majority of elastic base materials can stretch during movement, but lack the tensile strength to recover their original shape and become permanently damaged. By utilizing elastic fibers with enhanced resilience in our stretch construction we made a performance-fit base fabric that can handle the pressure of demanding physical activities.
LYCRA® is a synthetic elastane fiber that can stretch up to six times its length and return to its original state – time and again. LYCRA® fibers have redefined comfort, fit, freedom of movement and shape retention in virtually every garment category since its first use as a substitute for rubber over 50 years ago.
Nylon is a synthetic continuous fibre that is characterized by its resistance and capacity to cushion. This is the fibre that best holds up against wear and tear. Its strategic placement in the exterior layer of a Lorpen sock guarantees a long life.
